Tortolita Pass Trail
Just north of Tucson AZ Tortolita Pass Trail is a fun off road trail that winds across the Tortolita Mountains. It can be driven in either direction, but locals usually start in Catalina where there are more side roads to explore on public State Trust Land, rather than private land. It’s a popular area for UTVs and ATVs. Also, there is a convenient staging area at the start. When dry, most of this trail is easy to moderate with the exception of a more difficult 2-mile section that is steep and rocky in places. When wet, this trail can be impassable. At the high point of the trail, we met up with a stock Nissan Xterra whose owner said he managed the trail just fine.

Drivers with hard core vehicles can go up a short optional side canyon to test their rock-crawling skills. The trail crosses a mix of private and State Trust Land. Carry a State Trust Land permit. Copper Creek - Mammoth Arizona

Copper Creek is one of dozens of 'ghost towns' in Arizona, with various degrees of completeness and preservation - some, like Tombstone or Oatman on old Route 66 in the northwest have many good old buildings but still with some permanent residents, while for many, nothing remains but a few foundation stones or other scattered debris. For the more genuine sites, the amount and condition of the s...
Charouleau Gap Trail Tucson Arizona

Charouleau Gap trail is known to be one of the best in the state. Its most intimidating obstacle, "The Step", is optional, but you'll find many more impressive spots that aren't. When Canada Del Oro Wash is flowing, the experience is epic. The trail is maintained by the Tuscon Rough Riders. Difficulty Difficult: Long and remote with challenging obstacles and potentially deep water crossings. Ve...

Chiva Falls Trail is one of the most favored challenging trails in the Tucson area. This trail has a couple of different four-wheeling challenges while traveling out to a 75-foot waterfall and the spectacular views of Mount Lemmon and the Rincon Mountain region. Keep in mind that this is an out and back trail, so what you drive down you will have to drive back up on the way out. The waterfall t...
A Farewell to California

The time Has come for me to say goodbye to California. Being active duty military means that every few years you move around. I can honestly say that I have made some amazing friends through the off road community, and while this is not my first move, it is the most difficult. The off road community has become more of a family than anything. I want to thank everybody that has been a part of my ...

Rubicon Trail 2020 - A Day Trip To Walker Hill
In 1979 on that tough rocky section coming out of Bear Lake we burned up a jeep in that spot!
Hello there. I’ve been to DF many times as a friend of mine own a piece of land there. How do you get to the more wooded areas and river - from 6:47 mark on your video? Thanks!
I ran that exploring in a Dodge Megacab and ran it in 2wd before I knew what a badge of honor trail is, you are right the views are kinda cool. We will be there in October in our gladiator and will have my wife drive it to get use to driving light off road. Hiking trails in Big bend can be beautiful and a learning experience.
Great Video, about to do this on my JKU.
Did you do the loop going up the hard part or going down the hard part? Great video
We did the loop going down the hard part
Did it in the 70's when 4 wheelers knew how to drive not tering up the trails
There’s absolutely no reason to re-gear a JT for 35’s if you already have 4.10’s
Good video! Do you recall who the music is from? …she packed her bags told me to go to hell that was all she wrote then came the calls and facebook walls….
How do you feel about a Nissan titan with a 3” lift making it down this trail? I have basic All terrain tires on it
This honestly isn’t a difficult trail. You shouldn’t have any issues at all.
I got a set of these and in my opinion I'd say just get a good set of ditch lights, wheel well rock lights, and a set of white led running board lights like from black flag lighting is more than enough on a pitch black trail to light up a 20-30 foot circle around my jeep. The only time I find myself wanting more light is in the front, and at that point any 30 inch light bar on the market with a spot flood combo will be adequate. I don't recommend cheaping out by any means on lighting though. Buy quality stuff the first time. These were nice on by themselves but once I had them and everything else on at the same time it became very obvious all the zones they were lighting up were already covered, and the ones that were farther out than the rock lights could reach were already lit up by the strips ditch lights and headlights. The would be sweet on a side by side though for sure
Great job men.
Thank you for this
What size lift on the Wj I was thinking about going and trying the trail
Charouleau Gap has certainly gotten tougher over the years. I first went up it in 1972 on the back of a friend's dirt bike. I'd hop off and walk it when it was too steep for us both to be on the bike. Around 1983 or so could get all the way up and over the saddle and down to the creek in a 2WD 1966 Ford F100 pickup. My first 4WD ride up the trail was a in a little Chevy LUV pickup, which crawled up easily and surprised a Jeep group up in the saddle who'd been listening to me approaching for some time wondering what sort of four-wheeler it was. Later did it in both a 1989 Nissan D21 Hardbody and a friend's Jeep Cherokee. As I watch the video I do recognize some of the portions but all look more severe than I recall. Must be all the years of erosion and countless vehicles. Must be over 30 years now since I've been on it. Rather a shame folks can't know the route from before all the development. Back before Saddlebrooke and all the growth obliterated much of what had been Golder Ranch. The way in to the start of the Gap road was itself a bit of a wander across the desert, up the Canyon Del Oro Wash keeping a sharp eye out for where the path began. So now there's a "Kiosk" at the start? Wow ... just ... wow ....
I bet that Sahara wanted to trade their ATs for MTs by the end haha
MT > AT in every way
We had a blast can’t wait. For the next run thanks again for leading it so much fun
This trail was a blast and group was awesome. Hopefully I can put something together for later this month. Im looking at something a little easier.
Thanks for the video!
Whoaa. This music is great. Glad to see you still at it:)
You know I only use the highest quality music there is. 🤣 it was nice to get back out on the trail. We had a baby last year so bouncing around on the trails just wasn’t in the schedule for a bit.
Thanks for leading the trip! We had a great time
No problem and I’m glad y’all had a great time. Hopefully we can get another trail run planned soon.
i still dont understand why people think that sac is in norcal when its not if you devide Cain 3 thats 253.33 and sac is 279
Looks like your running a front locker but not the greenish Jeep?
You are correct
Believe it or not, you could drive a stock two wheel drive pick up all the way to saddle years ago. 😱😂
I believe it
I am in Tanque Verde. Are there easier lines around these hard rock portions of the trail? Thanks.
No there aren’t any bypasses on this trail
Thanks for posting these videos I live here would like to hook up with you guys. I’m running an 89 Mj no shortage of grand trails out here
Thank you for watching. I will likely be posting something in Tucson Jeep in the next few weeks
Were you running the trail on 33" tires and did you still not have any lockers?
I was running 35s and had lockers installed
When you say stock, are you referring to Jeeps in particular?
I’m most familiar with Jeeps, but any stock vehicle with similar clearance and capability to a Jeep would likely do just fine
Morris Lake the real challenge at the High Lakes.
I’m new to 4 wheeling, when you say air down, how much psi do you run with?
I drop down to between 12-15 psi on the trail
Jeeps are like cockroaches ....lol
Watched my first video on your channel covering Poker Flat. Enjoyed the video. Commentary was direct and to the point, footage was relevant and its was limited to a time length that is still within most peoples attention span limits. I'm new to jeeping (previous SxS), but not new to making videos. Nice work!
Is that a USFS Scout ? Ive never seen that around Butte County
This trail is not possible at this time.
What happened to make it impassable?
Big Question...did it help at all with the infamous "rattle" from the white part of the evap canister? I am thinking of moving it, but am hoping it is a more solid mount than the factory. If I really press up on the old skid plate, trying to get it not to bounce, the rattle isnt so bad when i hit the canister. But as of now, i can hear that damn thing rattle on every bump in the road.
I honestly don’t remember a rattle from the evap canister. I will say that the mount is very solid. It doesn’t move and it holds the canister snugly.
Awesome, i think I m going to pull the trigger. Thanks @@NotICON
Next you'll fall off a cliff walking backwards 😊
What lights are you using? Do they contact the spring when flexing?
They are just some cheap Amazon lights, 2” cube lights. I haven’t had any issues with them hitting the springs at full flex.
Love the realistic “okay this part is a pain in the ass” approach.
Gotta keep it real. Most install videos make things look super easy with no issues. This way it lets people know what issues they might run into
I was hoping that the trails profiled in this video would be suitable for a stock Jeep Renegade Trailhawk but it doesn't appear so.
Not Taking a Tundra round there lmao!!
“Just the tip I promise” what a twat
All those guys acting like they're doing Moab. The road to my house is rougher than this.
It’s not a hard trail at all, but it is a good introduction trail for somebody that’s never been off road.
I made it to the section at 3:58 in my stock Cherokee kl but wasn’t sure if I would have enough clearance for that drop. Backtracked a bit and found a bypass. Also made it up to the overlook which was absolutely stunning. Awesome video!
Yeah the view is the best part of the trail in my opinion
Those broncos.... A Honda CRV can do what they can.
They need an XJ to show them how it’s done 🤣
A Honda Accord can drive that.
Just starting out here. Are there any groups you know of in Elk Grove, CA. Great video man can't wait to get out there.
Great video! Planning on ordering a 24 Rubicon with 35s, 3.6L, will put on roof top tent and maybe tow a couple of times a year. Should I go with the 4.56 or get 4.88 option from factory?
Manual or automatic? The new 8 speed automatic is a real game changer when it comes to the need for a regear. If you have 4.10 gearing and an auto, 37s aren’t an issue. If it’s a manual then 4.56 will get you back to a stock feel.
Great views.
It is a very beautiful area
I love seeing those beautiful CJs on the trails! YJs too!
Yeah I love watching them put in work on the trails
How long is the trailer and about how long does it take?
It’s about 17 miles long, and takes about 2 hours to run if you aren’t stopping
I know it says a year ago but I was wondering what month? If it was before or after the monsoon. I herd it had got really bad after the monsoon. You guys look like the most recent to go through on you tube.
This was before the monsoon season. I want to say it was in March
Love that message at the end brother, God bless u and happy trails 🇺🇸
Have you been there this year
